Even though we see mostly faded and damaged black and white images from 100 years ago, it’s easy to forget that there was sunshine and color in those days! I’ve become obsessed with opening the blinds, cleaning the windows and letting the light shine through old photographs. I always knew that it was an easy process to use the computer to subtract color from a photograph, but I had no idea what a task it was to add color. The learning process was hard and tedious, but magical, nonetheless. Using the tools like paint, creating washes of color – layer upon layer of color – until the light sparkles and shines through, has been very rewarding. I hope you’ll enjoy seeing the transformations.
